Hand in Hand Hospice Announces 21st Annual Wings of Hope Butterfly Release

(EMPORIA, KS) Hand in Hand Hospice invites the community to join in a heartfelt tradition of remembrance and celebration at the 21st Annual Wings of Hope Butterfly Release, taking place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Jones Park in Emporia, Kansas. This cherished event, held annually for more than two decades, offers a meaningful opportunity to honor loved ones who have passed away through the symbolic release of Painted Lady butterflies.
The Wings of Hope Butterfly Release brings together families, friends, and community members to commemorate those who have touched their lives. Each butterfly released represents a loved one’s spirit, symbolizing hope, transformation, and the enduring cycle of life. Participants can dedicate a butterfly in memory of someone special, with names read aloud during the ceremony as the butterflies take flight, creating a poignant moment of reflection and connection.
“We are honored to host this beautiful tradition that allows our community to come together in love and remembrance,” said Andrea Elwood, Director of Hand in Hand Hospice. “Releasing a butterfly is a powerful way to celebrate the lives of those we’ve lost, and each year, this event brings comfort and hope to those grieving while supporting our mission to provide compassionate hospice care.”
