Newman Regional Health Unveils State-of-the-Art Technology in Cardiovascular and Imaging Services 

(EMPORIA, KS) Newman Regional Health is proud to announce two major technology upgrades that significantly enhance the quality of care available to patients in Emporia and surrounding communities.  

This week, the hospital began procedures using newly upgraded equipment in its Cardiovascular Lab, now equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools that allow cardiologists to see inside arteries with unprecedented clarity. This technology enables precise stent placement and provides detailed insights into artery physiology—capabilities that go far beyond traditional angiograms. 

“We’re no longer just seeing the outside of the artery—we’re seeing the full picture,” said Michael Lloyd, MD, Interventional Cardiologist at Newman Regional Health. “This allows us to tailor treatments with greater accuracy and improve outcomes for our patients.” 

The Cardiovascular Lab upgrade also includes new diagnostic testing that evaluates the functional health of arteries, helping physicians make more informed decisions. Thanks to these advancements, Newman Regional Health continues to see a marked reduction in heart attack mortality in Lyon County since 2017. 

Notably, Newman Regional Health is accredited by the American College of Cardiology for both cath lab and interventional procedures—a testament to the hospital’s excellence in cardiac care. 

In addition to cardiovascular upgrades, the hospital recently installed the Canon Genesis Edition Aquilion ONE CT Scanner, replacing 14-year-old technology with a $1 million investment in gold-standard imaging. The new scanner is four times more powerful in imaging acquisition and offers advanced features such as cardiac scoring, CT brain perfusion for stroke evaluations—critical tools for emergency and preventive care.
