Haag Pharmacy Transitions Ownership to Newman Community Rx continuing its mission and service to the greater Emporia area
Emporia, Kansas – Emporia’s longest continuously operating business is announcing plans which will assure its vibrancy and existence for years to come. Haag Pharmacy, located in Emporia, Kansas is excited to announce the transition to Newman Community Rx. This transition will support the continuation of current pharmacy services while providing the opportunity for growth and expansion as it continues to live out its mission and service to the patients of Emporia and the surrounding communities.
Haag Pharmacy has been caring for generations of Emporia residents and the surrounding communities since 1885. As a locally owned, independent pharmacy, they offer many unique services that are tailored to the specific needs of their patients which cannot be found elsewhere. As the longest ongoing business in Lyon County, they have served Emporia and the surrounding communities for 140 years. Newman Community Rx is proud to continue these services and looks forward to building upon the foundation established by Haag Pharmacy, maintaining its long-standing legacy of service and excellence.
“We are thrilled to announce this exciting transition,” said Amber Haag, owner and pharmacist at Haag Pharmacy. “This transition presents a wonderful opportunity, and we are committed to ensuring our patients continue to receive the high-quality care and personalized attention they’ve come to expect. I’m extremely grateful to be an integral part of this transition and ongoing future operations. I’ll still be here, proudly serving the pharmaceutical and healthcare needs of our community. And most importantly, this legacy pharmacy will continue to be a locally-owned, hometown pharmacy.”
Cathy Pimple, CEO of Newman Regional Health underscores the transition, “As the transition of ownership occurs with this valued local pharmacy, we honor its legacy of trust, care, and service. Newman Regional Health is excited to see the joining of forces with such a respected establishment and continue strengthening the connections it has built over the years. Together, we’ll enhance healthcare and continue the spirit of community care.”
While a change in ownership and name will occur on March 1, many things will remain the same. Newman Community Rx will continue to provide patient care services that go above and beyond the medications themselves. In addition to offering traditional pharmacy services, they will continue to specialize in a variety of niche pharmacy services including medication synchronization, compounding services, medication therapy management, hormone replacement therapy, compliance packaging, immunizations, their exclusive N+Addition line of nutritional supplements, and special packaging for those patients residing in long-term care/assisted living facilities. Pharmacists Amber Haag, Don Payne, Melissa Jackson, and Roger Storrer will continue to lead the current staff in all aspects of dispensing and clinical services. Debra Madsen, Certified Pharmacy Technician and Certified Fitter of Therapeutic Shoes will continue to specialize in diabetic/therapeutic footwear. Haag states, “We have a tremendous team of professionals working in all areas of our business. They are 100% committed to their patients and to maintaining our important role in the healthcare setting, so it will be business as usual for us here at the
pharmacy.”
Newman Community Rx is a nonprofit organization committed to supporting and enhancing the well-being of the community by ensuring the continued availability of local pharmacy services. Additional information about Newman Community Rx and its expanded services to the community will be available in Spring 2025.
