
Our Nurse Externship program provides a summer learning experience tor college students who have completed their junior year of nursing school.
The nurse Extern will work side by side with a licensed RN preceptor for six weeks. This is a PAID program.
Potential primary areas for student rotations include:
- Emergency Department
- Medical/Surgical/Telemetry
- Obstetrics
- Surgical Services
- Intensive Care Unit
- Clinical Decision Unit
- Inpatient Rehab

How to apply for the Nursing Extern Program
Step One
- Download and print the Faculty Feedback Form
- Get 2 faculty members to complete the form and recommend you.
- Scan the forms into pdf format and upload to you your formal application
Step Two
- Apply on line
- Upload your CV and two Faculty Feedback forms
Six weeks of paid time with RN preceptor.
- Final nursing unit assignments will be made in May
- Assignments are subject to change due to staffing/preceptor needs of the organization.
- All duties will be performed under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Work within the nursing process to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
- Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
