Charisse Symmonds, DO, is a board-certified internal medicine physician specializing in primary care, obesity and diabetes management. She is currently accepting patients as an internal medicine/primary care physician at Newman Regional Health Medical Partners.
Dr. Symmonds is a 6th generation native of the area and graduated from Northern Heights High School in Allen, KS. She is a mother of four including twin girls that were born at Newman Regional Health.

She has worked at Cotton O’Neil Emporia/Stormont Vail and Ransom Memorial Hospital Ottawa. She has a Doctor of Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and a Master of Science from the same university. She has also completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Emporia State University. She was part of the Women’s basketball team at Baker University in Baldwin City, KS.
She has also served as the medical executive staff president at Newman Regional Health and as the EMS medical director at Franklin Co EMS.
Dr. Symmonds is the co-owner and medical director of High Plains Wellness, LLC.
Dr. Symmonds loves to travel with her husband and family and once responded to an inflight medical incident that caused the airplane to make an emergency landing to allow the patient to undergo advanced care.
