Meds to Beds RX Discharge Program
Meds to Beds brings medication to your bedside.
We know it can be hard to make it by the pharmacy when you’re going home from the hospital. The Meds-to-Beds is a convenient and optional bed-side service offered at Newman Regional Health to help patients where patients can obtain their discharge medications as they transition out of the hospital.
Newman Community Rx will deliver prescription medications directly to the patient. The pharmacy will handle all processing of prescriptions and ensure the patient receives their medications prior to leaving the hospital. A licensed pharmacist is available for individualized consultation of these medications ensuring the patient understands their new medication(s). This program eliminates any extra planning to stop at the pharmacy following discharge.
What are the benefits:
- Improved compliance and adherence to medication schedule
- one-on-one instruction
- Additional privacy
- Family and caretakers can be present
- No stopping by the pharmacy after discharge
- Most Insurances accepted
- Most prescriptions are transferrable
How much does it cost?
The delivery service costs nothing! The only thing you are required to pay for is your medication. The staff at Newman Community Rx will contact you to process payment prior to your discharge. We provide you with an initial supply of your prescribed medicine and you can transfer remaining refills to your preferred pharmacy and communicate any medication changes with your pharmacist if you prefer. You can always continue to rely upon Newman Community Rx as your primary pharmacy.
Each pharmacy has varying prices on medicine. We’re able to bill most prescription insurances and will provide you with copay prices before we come to your room. The cost of your prescription won’t be added to your overall hospital bill. You’ll be responsible for any co-payment for your prescriptions.
What if I have prescription insurance?
To use your prescription insurance, please provide your prescription insurance card or information to the Newman Community Rx representative. If you don’t have your insurance card, pharmacy personnel will help you to get the necessary information. If you don’t have prescription insurance, you are still welcome to use this service.
To sign up for this service, simply let nursing or pharmacy staff know that you’re interested and they will help you get started.
