Participants Will Be Able to Meet the Following Learning Outcome:
Attendees will demonstrate basic breastfeeding knowledge through evidence-based care of common breastfeeding questions and concerns, including protection of breastfeeding when referring for advance lactation support.

Continuing Education Credits
Nurses (RN/APRN/LPN)
Breastfeeding Basics course is approved for 6.25 nursing contact hours by the University of Kansas Health System, an accredited provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. To receive credit you must attend the program in its entirety and complete the online program evaluation provided by the University of Kansas Health System.
Lactation Support Providers (IBCLC/CLC)
Breastfeeding Basics course has been allocated 6.5 (L) Continuing Education Recognition Points (CERPs) by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). Approval # CLT117-04. IABLE is an approved Long-Term Provider by IBCLE.
Dietitians (RD)Breastfeeding Basics course has been approved for 7.5 continuing education clock hours for Kansas licensed dietitians by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. Long-Term Sponsorship number: D1382 (LTS is KDHE-BFHNutrition and WIC Services)

Evaluation and Completion Certificate
You will receive a link to an online evaluation survey from the KBC withing 24 hours of completion of the course. Your certificate of completion will be available to download at the end of the evaluation survey. You will have two weeks after the course to complete the evaluation and access your certificate.

This is the ONLY way to obtain a certificate of completion.

Nurses – you will receive an additional online evaluation survey from the University of Kansas Hospital System. Upon completion of this survey, you will be able to download your certificate of completion with nursing contact hours.
* This training program is beneficial for RNs, medical office staff, physicians and other providers, pharmacists, public health nurses, doulas, midwives, home visitors, WIC peer counselors, nutritionists, LLL Leaders, health professional students and others who help mothers breastfeed.

Parking is available near the front entrance.

Meals
Lunch is on your own.

Participants will need to bring a doll to practice latch and positioning.

Lactation Room
A space to pump will be available.

A PDF document of the slides can be downloaded from your IABLE Membership dashboard when you login at the IABLE website: https://lacted.org/wp-login.php. You can login to your dashboard using the email or username and password that you used when you registered for the course. An email with login instructions was sent upon registration. Please print this document ahead of time if you would like to take notes on the slides during the training. Hard copies of the slides will NOT be provided the day of the course.

Curriculum Booklet
A full-color curriculum booklet is available from IABLE. This is used as a reference after the training and is complemented by the lectures slides. More information on purchasing the book will be available in the near future.

IABLE & KBC Memberships
Upon completion of your training, you will receive a 1-year membership to IABLE and a 1-year membership to the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition. You will receive IABLE membership information within 2 weeks of the completion of the course.

The Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding and Lactation Education is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to building and supporting Breastfeeding-Knowledgeable Medical Systems and Communities. IABLE provides a number of resources to their members. These include Triage Tools, Breastfeeding Education Handouts, Video Library and Discussion Group.
