Mesotherapy

Introduction

Mesotherapy is an alternative medicine technique intended to improve the appearance of cellulite or localized collections of fat.  Aging and weight gain can cause cellulite/fat deposits in the thighs, buttocks, arms, and abdomen.  Mesotherapy involves injecting physician-created formulas into affected or targeted areas.  Injection formulas may include pharmaceutical agents, plant extracts, and vitamins.  Mesotherapy is offered as an alternative to liposuction.

Treatment
You can receive mesotherapy from a doctor specializing in non-surgical cosmetic surgery.  The injections are administered in your doctor’s office.  You can return to work following the procedure.  Injections are typically given two times a week for four to eight weeks. This will vary depending upon the goal, amount of fat, and your response to the treatment.  Following your treatment sessions, you may periodically receive maintenance injections.

Mesotherapy is considered an experimental treatment in the United States.  This means that the safety, risks, and benefits of mesotherapy are not fully understood nor scientifically proven. Your doctor will help you decide if you are good candidate.
