The Social Services Department assists patients in solving personal or environmental difficulties which sometimes arise during an illness. Social Services can assist you with discharge planning, trying to obtain financial assistance, and identifying community resources. They are available to assist in arranging home care, skilled nursing, or other nursing home care. Our social workers can also help you with Advance Directives such as living wills or durable power of attorney for health care. The Social Services Department addresses the patient's psychosocial needs by doing crisis counseling, financial assessment, and discharge planning for coordination of post-hospitalization services at no cost to the patient. Language interpretation services are available for patients who do not speak English. For assistance, please notify your nurse or Communication Assistance Coordinator at extension 4109. For our Spanish interpreter, please call 620-343-6800, ext. 4109 or 7792. A Chaplain is available during the day. We also have a Patient Advocate who addresses concerns about a patient's care or questions about a bill.
