Index of Services
Supervised by a radiologist or physician, tiny amounts of radioactive trace material (called isotopes) are injected and absorbed by an organ to reveal how that organ works rather than just its structure. A nuclear scan is obtained by a special camera that detects the radiation given off by the isotope that was injected and carried to your organs. During the scanning, the camera may move at different angles while you remain still. The signals are used by a computer to construct an image of the organ and its overall circulation. The images are then identified and labeled by the technologist. After a complete series is collected, they are forwarded to an imaging camera for permanent documentation on film.
