| The Fresenius Medical Care of North America provides hemodialysis on the fourth floor of Newman Regional Health. Their clinic here at Newman opened in March, 1997. Hemodialysis ("hemo" refers to blood) is a process that removes wastes and excess fluids from the blood. The patient’s blood is circulated through a special filter on a dialysis machine, providing the same function of a person’s normal kidney. This service is very convenient for those patients who were previously driving out of town three to four times a week to receive their dialysis treatments.
