Do you know a bicycle helmet can reduce your risk of serious head injury by 85%? Newman Regional Health's Bicycle Helmet Safety Program offers low-cost helmets to the Lyon County and Emporia, Kansas community areas. These CPSC certified helmets are available in a variety of colors and sizes ranging from small toddler to large adult.

Our Bicycle Helmet Safety Program is provided in association with ESU Newman Division of Nursing and the Kansas Safe Kids Coalition. Helmets are purchased at factory cost from Bell Sports.

CPR and First Aid Classes

American Heart Association First Aid/CPR classes are held every two months at Newman Regional Health. Newman Regional Health’s certified staff instructs the classes.

Heartsaver First Aid with Adult/Child CPR and AED:

  • Choking
  • Breathing Emergencies
  • Severe Allergic Reactions
  • Medical Emergencies (chest pain, diabetes, stroke, etc.)
  • Bleeding
  • Fractures, strains, sprains
  • Environmental Emergencies (bites, poisoning, temperature related emergencies)
  • Adult/child CPR
  • AED Use (automated external defibrillator)

Fee
Registration fee is $45.

Corporate Registration

Continuing Education

Continuing Education for Nursing, Social Work, & Respiratory Care Professionals

Newman Regional Health is an approved provider of continuing education for nursing, social work, and respiratory care professionals. We have programs throughout the year and e-mail brochures when programs are scheduled. If you would like to be placed on the list for Continuing Education brochures to be e-mailed to you, please call (620) 343-6800, extension 2521 or e-mail us. We also have many independent study contact hours available. Programs are $7.00 a contact hour if paid before the day of the program.

Prenatal Classes

Prenatal Care is important to women both before and during pregnancy. Prenatal Care is used to ensure a healthy pregnancy for both the mother and developing baby. In the United States, Prenatal Care has resulted in a reduced number of maternal deaths, miscarriages, and birth defects. Newman Regional Health encourages women to enroll in prenatal classes before they become pregnant or as early in their pregnancy as possible. Learn more about Prenatal Care

  • Physical changes during pregnancy
  • Fetal growth and development
  • Labor and delivery options

  • Newborn care
  • Tour of the Women's Life Center at Newman Regional Health

Class Schedule
Classes are offered the second Saturday of the month from 9 AM to 4 PM in January, March, May, July, September, and November.  Online class option is also availale.  To inquire, please call 620-343-6800, ext. 4477 or 4499.
